Frequently Asked Questions
What is RevenueCat?
RevenueCat is a mobile framework and web service that provides reliable and centralized processing of Apple subscription payments.
How does it work?
Purchases.framework uploads your user's receipts to RevenueCat's servers. We verify them, store them, and ensure your user's subscription status is kept up to date. This means you don't have to build a complicated backend with a whole mess of jobs to ensure subscription status is accurate.
Why do I need this?
Implementing mobile subscriptions is hard. Apple left out a missing layer when they designed them on top of their existing in-app purchase infrastructure. This leads to extended build outs and a buggy user experience. Using RevenueCat will save you a ton of time up front and give you piece of mind as your app grows that subscriptions will work as expected.
How much does it cost?
RevenueCat is free to get started and scales with the number of active subscriptions you have. We don't make money unless you are making money. You can see the plans here.
Why should I trust you bozos?
Because we've done it before. Before RevenueCat Jacob worked at Elevate, Apple's 2014 App of the Year, and experienced first hand the challenges of building a mobile subscription based business. He spent the better part of 2 years debugging, enhancing, a re-debugging all the moving parts of a good mobile subscriptions tracking backend. He brings that experience to RevenueCat.
Who should use this?
If you are using mobile subscriptions RevenueCat will save you money via reduced customer service expenses, improved understanding of your paying customers, and time analyzing your revenue. RevenueCat is particularly useful if you haven't yet made the transition to subscriptions. However if you are already using subscriptions and things aren't going well, we can help you in the transition.
Does it support other platforms?
Android and Mac support are coming in early 2018.
