Transfer a project when the owner is unavailable

Request a RevenueCat project ownership transfer when the current owner cannot access their account.

A RevenueCat project normally must be transferred by its current owner. If the owner has left the company or cannot access their account, contact RevenueCat Support to request an ownership review.

RevenueCat must verify that you are authorized to control the project before completing a transfer. Access to an app, store account, or RevenueCat project as a collaborator may help establish context, but it doesn't automatically prove ownership.

Try the standard transfer first

If the current owner can still access RevenueCat, use the standard project ownership transfer. The owner sends the transfer to an administrator on the project, and the recipient accepts it from the Collaborators page.

Use the Support-assisted process only when the current owner cannot complete those steps.

Prepare the destination account

Create or identify the RevenueCat account that should receive the project. Before contacting Support:

  • Confirm the destination account's email address.
  • Add that account to the project as an administrator if an existing collaborator can do so.
  • Add billing information when required.
  • Confirm that the destination account's plan supports the project's current features.

The project transfer changes which RevenueCat account owns the existing project. It doesn't merge the project with another project. To combine project configurations and purchase history, follow Merging RevenueCat Projects.

Request an ownership review

Contact RevenueCat Support and include:

  • The RevenueCat project ID and project name
  • The current owner's email address
  • The destination account's email address
  • Your relationship to the company or app
  • Why the current owner cannot complete the transfer
  • Any company, app-store, or domain information that can help establish authority

Support will review the request and provide the required verification steps. Depending on the available evidence, this may include proving control of a company domain by adding a temporary Domain Name System (DNS) TXT record.

⚠️Wait for verification instructions

Don't add a DNS record until RevenueCat Support provides the exact domain, record name, and value for your request. Verification values are specific to each ownership review.

If domain verification isn't available, Support may request a combination of other evidence, such as:

  • Confirmation from multiple existing project administrators
  • Confirmation through a company support or contact email address published on its official website or app-store listing
  • Government-issued business registration or tax documents that connect the company to the app

Alternate evidence is reviewed case by case and doesn't guarantee that RevenueCat can complete the transfer.

Complete the transfer

After Support verifies the request, confirm the destination account again before the ownership change. The receiving owner becomes responsible for the project's billing and must meet the normal transfer requirements.

If the App Store Connect or Google Play developer account is also changing, update the store credentials separately:

Transferring a RevenueCat project doesn't transfer the app between App Store Connect or Google Play developer accounts. Complete those store-side transfers through Apple or Google.

Protect account security

RevenueCat Support doesn't need the current owner's password, two-factor authentication recovery codes, store private keys, or complete DNS credentials. Share only the records requested for the ownership review.
