Apple Alternative EU Terms Addendum

How to have AEUTA commission rates reflected in RevenueCat

AIAsk AIChatGPTClaude

Apple offers an Alternative Terms Addendum for Apps in the EU for developers who use Apple's EU business terms. If your Apple Developer account has agreed to the addendum, RevenueCat needs your AEUTA dates to calculate App Store proceeds correctly for eligible EU transactions.

As AEUTA affects the data sent for integrations as well as the data displayed in RevenueCat's charts, it's important to acknowledge your addendum dates in your app settings.

This setting tells RevenueCat which AEUTA dates apply for App Store commission calculations. It does not configure Apple's StoreKit entitlements in your app or report external purchase transactions to Apple.

How to Agree to the Addendum

To use the Alternative EU Terms Addendum, the Account Holder for your Apple Developer Program membership must agree to Apple's terms and follow Apple's requirements for apps using the entitlement.

Apple maintains the current requirements and enrollment instructions in its communication and promotion of offers in the EU documentation.

Informing RevenueCat

Since a developer could have multiple apps from different companies represented in their RevenueCat account, AEUTA status is set on a per-app basis in the RevenueCat dashboard.

Visit your app settings in the RevenueCat dashboard by selecting Apps & providers at the bottom of the navigation sidebar on the left. Select your App Store app, scroll down, and expand the Apple Alternative EU Terms Addendum dropdown.

If you do not see this section for your App Store app, contact RevenueCat support.

Start Date

Enter the effective date of entry for your Alternative EU Terms Addendum. This date must be on or after March 5, 2024 and can be any date in the past or future.

This field is required if you add an Exit Date.

Exit Date

If you leave the Alternative EU Terms Addendum, enter the effective exit date.

How AEUTA Affects App Store Commissions

RevenueCat applies AEUTA rates to eligible App Store transactions in EU storefronts when they occur within the configured AEUTA date range. If your app is also enrolled in the App Store Small Business Program, configure both programs so RevenueCat can account for the overlap.

Considerations

Backdating Entry into AEUTA

You can set your start date at any time, but please note: if you set it to a date in the past, we won't re-send webhooks and integration events with correct pricing data for transactions that have already occurred. To ensure accurate pricing data is sent to your integrations, set your effective start date as soon as possible.

Charts

Charts will correctly calculate proceeds even if the start date is in the past, but it will take up to 24 hours for your charts to recalculate past data.
